Hiakus for boredom

Wed Jun 17, 2009, 10:56 PM
  • Mood: Eager
  • Listening to: Alkaline Trio, the Bouncing Souls, Nine Inch Nails
  • Reading: Lemony Snicket: A Series of Unfortunate Events,
  • Watching: People, my cat sleep, whatever's on TV
  • Playing: with my hands
  • Eating: Whatever happens to be in the fridge
  • Drinking: Cabernet Sauvignion
Shimmering light awakens me again.
No. I want to sleep in today.
Cat jumps on my chest.

She laughs from another room
I'm writing a hiaku about her now
My sister has no idea

Aetherial rays crest the hills
The moon is a sliver in the sky
Beauty is a golden dawn

Flowing water stumbles over rocks
Laughing like a playfull child, it runs
Oh! Gloriouse day of summer

Gray sky hangs low today
I smirk at the ominous clouds gathering.
"Do you worst" I boast.

She's sitting by the window
Her hand lightly touches her soft cheeck
She won't come out today

He stands on the balcony
Looking up she catches his eye
A brief infatuation, nothing more.

They walk arm in arm
Light rain falls onto the cobblestone street
They're in love. What else matters?

The gray mare runs swiftly
Her back is arched, firm and reagle
She'll never feel more free

Murky water springs forth life
Lilly pads and reeds spring from below
The small pond is alive.

She jumps around so nimbly!
Her soft pads tap down the hall
Oh cat, you are strange.

Black and white are mine.
My simple avatar for life and death.
I'm both black and white.

"Whomp! Whomp! Whomp!" I hear.
It's flying low like a crane now.
Blades beat air into submission.

I read a book today
The words seemed to speak to me
So I wrote a hiaku.

I must have just missed you, brother! I just returned from a fantastic night of masonic fellowship in celebration of Robert Burnes. Met some great new brother masons and had some great scotch. All in all a great night. I'll check out the pic. you up loaded right away.

Art is the birth from the hands to counter the death of the heart. It's the only place I can truly lose 'myself', and become... more than me. ~JRL~
